TIP TUESDAY: Invitation is Indication of Wedding

So, a couple comes to us wanting a handmade paper invitations with pressed flowers and raffia.  I can’t wait to design it because it’s not your average invitation and it will be very personal!  Then I find out the wedding is at the Palmer House Hilton.  I proceed to explain to them that none of their guests – bar the bridesmaids and mom’s – know what went into planning this wedding and what the meal will be, the decor, the painstaking details you have picked for your table arrangements, and so much much more.  The ONLY indication the have is the invitation.

If it’s a formal occassion use a formal invitation - with formal wording, including writing out the dates, streets, and times.  Make sure you use a classic font to mirror the formality of the big day.

But if you are having a weekend backyard blow out and the groom is wearing khakis, then have fun and send out a recycled kraft paper tied with fabulous red and white twine and let your guests know what type of fun they are in for!

They are counting on you to give them a hint/clue/sign of what to wear, what gift to give and even if it’s worth attending.  Make sure your invitation represents you as a couple and your big day!
