CJ & Dr. Tim ~ Obama Out & Time for Tuxes

Hey all!

106 days and counting….

What a week!  How can we even write about ourselves when something so much bigger is happening?!  The news that President Obama has “come out” in support of gay marriage come with a myriad of emotions that is hard to put into words.  It was so refreshing to hear the news yesterday;  it made us feel like a step has been taken forward.

Of course, the response on certain news stations as well as a very comical response from the Log Cabin Republicans (gay republicans) sort of made us giggle with a little bit of delight.  How can they spin this to make Obama a monster?  How can they make the leader of the free world supporting the rights of everyone a horrible man for doing so?  It’s true that there are many issues we have with our government – we agree that we would have these issues no matter who was in office.  But since this man has taken the reigns two things have happened for us – in our state we have the legal right to enter into a Civil Union and our PRESIDENT has come out in support of full marriage rights for same sex couples.  We will state it again, FULL MARRIAGE RIGHTS FOR SAME SEX COUPLES – we are waiting for the crazies with the “he supports gay marriage so he supports people marrying their pets” argument…let’s just be clear…he does not support human/pet marriages.  Ewwww.  But we digress.  May 9th, 2012 will forever be a day in our hearts that someone who has a voice, a voice that the world listens to supported us. It felt pretty good.

Onto the wedding!  This weekend, we are going to finally get ourselves over to Men’s Warehouse to pick out the tuxes for us and the gents that are standing up.  Another thing off the list – YAY!  We also received our first wedding shower present in the mail a few days ago from one of our friends that will be out of town for the shower.  Talk about making something feel real!  Not that gifts matter but getting a present with a card that says they are sorry they can’t make your shower and that they can’t wait for your “big day” makes it all so much more real.  Maybe it caused some butterflies.  We have a little over three months to go and while it feels like years away, it feels like it will be here tomorrow.

OK, we just broke out into a little sweat.
