Our Thoughts on Kim K’s Divorce Announcement

We think this says it all.

And we still don’t like her head piece.

TIP TUESDAY: A Perfect SoleMate

If you’ve never felt your heels sinking helplessly into the dirt or sand at an outdoor venue, then consider yourself one of the lucky ones.  For anyone who’s tried to brave uneven earth in stylish stilettos, your days of awkwardly wobbling around are over.  Through a stroke of pure genius in their class at Columbia Business School, Monica Murphy and Becca Brown engineered SoleMates, a simple and discreet device to prevent your gorgeous heels from falling into cracks or slipping beneath the grass.  This perfect product increases the surface area on the base of most stilettos and kitten heels to keep you standing tall.

Available in three different sizes (narrow, classic or wide) and four colors (clear, black, gold and silver), this protective product is perfect match for any shoe.  At first, I was skeptical that the plastic might wear away the fabric on my heels but SoleMates easily slipped over the heel of my shoes without causing any damage!  These shoe saviors are available online at SoleMate and retail locations across the country.

Accessories Angel: Kim K’s Unconventional Crown

In the wake of Kim Kardashian’s lavish nuptials tongues have been wagging all about her wedding day style.  Wearing $10 million of Lorraine Schwartz jewels definitely piqued my interest.  Whether it was the to-die-for tear drop earrings or any one of her three enchanting Vera Wang frocks, Kim definitely wowed her friends and family.

There was one part of her oh-so-perfect ensemble that left me a little puzzled:  her diamond headpiece.

The blingy headwear seemed a little out of place against her sleek bun and traditional tulle veil.  According to US Weekly, a source said Kim resembled “an Armenian Princess”.  Maybe the topper was paying homage to her late father and his Armenian ancestry?

With a limited number of pictures available, I’ll reserve my final judgment until Kim and Kris’ ceremony airs in a two-part special October 9 and 10 on E!  But from what I’ve seen so far, the headpiece seems a little too Jasmine-esque for my taste.

Accessories Angel: Bringing Back the Birdcage

In the fast-paced world of fashion, it can be easy to forget the timeless styles of the past.  I was refreshed to see birdcage veils making a triumphant comeback.  These vintage veils provide a touch of old-Hollywood elegance to any bride.  Designs range in length giving brides a variety of options to choose from.  Whether the netting extends just past the eyes, referred to as a “visor” or “blush”, to a more traditional length that extends slightly below the chin.

With the birdcage veil’s rising popularity, many designers have added modern twists to this 1950’s classic.  Veils anchored with feathers and flowers come in an assortment of styles and can soften your look.  This French Net Birdcage Visor Veil (pictured above, $134) by Serendipity Tiaras comes in both ivory and white.

The birdcage veil is also perfect for the bride on a budget.  Websites like ProjectWedding offer step-by-step instructions on how to create your own gorgeous design!

Accessories Angel: My Something Blue

Call me old-fashioned, but when my wedding comes, you’ll find me wearing something old, new, borrowed and blue.  With so many fun and colorful accessories available, I think a little splash of blue adds a nice finishing touch to any bride.

Understandably, blue can be a tough color to work into certain color schemes.  Have no fear!  From a sapphire garter tucked underneath your dress to sky blue earrings hidden by your hair, there are tons of more secretive ways to bring a little blue into your ensemble.  While searching for some examples, I fell head over heels for these Pour La Victoire shoes (available at My Glass Slipper for $159).  Not only do they have adorable bows and “Tiffany blue” soles (very Louboutin-esque!) but they also feature the words “I do” written in rhinestones.  I may have to snatch this perfect pair up and keep them in storage until I take my stroll down the aisle…

Accessories Angel: Feathery Fringe

On a recent trip to New York City, I couldn’t stop myself from doing a little damage on Fifth Avenue.  As I looked through the endless racks of accessories, I noticed a beautifully boho trend:  long-chained feather earrings.  These earrings can be worn subtly in natural, earthy tones or as a dramatic statement in bright show-stopping colors!  A versatile way to freshen up your wardrobe mid-season feather earrings can breathe new life into old outfits.

In a variety of lengths and sizes, there’s a perfect pair for every style.  Pictured above is a pair by Serefina (available through National Jean Company) that makes the transition from day to night seamlessly.  Beading or rhinestones give the earrings a dressed-up look for a night out on the town or while subdued, single-feathered styles are perfect for every day looks.

Accessories Angel: Rosey Wrists

The latest lust-worthy trend-to-follow is rose gold watches.  This fabulously fresh color gives any outfit a sophisticated touch of flair.

I’ve never been particularly fond of watches because they can be difficult to combine with other accessories.  But these watches with their refreshingly feminine hue and playful designs make it easy to blend with different bracelets and rings for an amped-up look around the office or on a date!

Designers everywhere have released various styles in a broad range of prices.  For a more casual look, choose a design with small accents of rose gold like the Marc Jacobs Logo Watch available for $150 at Lord & Taylor.

If you’re searching for a little more sparkle and shine, look no further than Juicy Couture’s Pedigree or Beau Bracelet watches available for $195 and $295, respectively.

Both styles feature Swarovski crystals surrounding the face for some everyday luxe!
