MONEY MONDAY: Wedding Insurance

Thank you to Sarah Meehan at USA Today for her article:  Why Say ‘I Do’ to Wedding Insurance.

At age 14, Sarah Williams had already chosen Maryland’s Eastern Shore as the backdrop for her wedding.

Last August when the bride-to-be, now 25, booked a sprawling plantation on the Wye River for her reception, plans for the fairy tale wedding of her childhood dreams started to crystallize. She selected a caterer, florist and DJ for the September wedding, and her father, Stephen Williams, shelled out nearly $10,000 for the facility.

MONEY MONDAY: Wedding on the Cheap

This wedding on the cheap story comes to us from Nina.  Thanks for sharing!

My husband and I only spent about $2,500 on our wedding for about 100 guests… yes, you read that right… we were CHEAP!  And of that, $400 was for my dress, $300 for the site, $300 for the cake, $200 for flowers.

MONEY MONDAY: Eloping ~ Good or Bad

Eloping definition from Webster Dictionary:  “To run away secretly with the intention of getting married usually without parental consent“.

We are fairly certain that at some point during most couples’ wedding planning process, they turn to each other and say that they should have just eloped to skip all the drama and cost of a traditional wedding.  And the question is whether or not it is a good idea or a bad idea to elope.

When you sign a hotel contract for your wedding, the catering manager will talk about an F&B minimum.  Do you know what that is?  And why it is important?

Budget Bear: Cutting Costs

Last night, we went over our budget tracker.  It sure was traumatizing!  We will be about $3,000 over budget.  How did this happen!?  Mommy and Daddy still are looking for a florist, officiate and DJ.  Hopefully, they can cut back on some things.

MONEY MONDAY: Couple Recycles Cans to Pay for Wedding

It is not news that weddings are expensive!  It is no wonder that couples are getting creative with how they are footing the bill for their  nuptials.  And from the Offbeat Bride, we learned that bride Andrea Parrish and her fiance Peter Geyer plan to collect 400,000 cans that they would recycle and use the profits to pay for their wedding.

MONEY MONDAY: Welcome Gift Bag Delivery Fees

You spend hours reseaching awesome items for your wedding gift bag.  And the many more hours assembling it.  All as a fun and meaningful gift for your wedding guests staying at the designated wedding hotel.  And then you find out that the hotel cannot give them to your guests when they check in and they charge a per bag delivery fee.  WTF?!?!
