Most brides do not realize that just the personal flowers – your bouquet, those for your bridesmaids, something for your flower girl, corsages for moms and grandmothers and godmothers, boutonnieres for ALL the guys – are expensive!
Question: What is the cost of an average wedding today? I’ve heard it’s around $20,000. Is this off base?
Thank you to our friends at NewsSun.com for their article: Should you buy wedding insurance?
Disastrous wedding mishaps have long been a comedy staple, probably because so many of us can relate. What bride- or groom-to-be hasn’t had nightmares about hurricane-force winds blowing over the reception tent or a drunken cousin falling into the wedding cake?
Thank you to Rebecca Adams for her article: Royal Wedding vs. Kim Kardashian’s Wedding: By The Numbers. Repost from HuffPost Weddings.
As we get closer and closer to the royal wedding anniversary, we start to wax nostalgic about another nuptial that took television by storm: the short-lived Kim Kardashian-Kris Humphries wedding extravaganza. Although seemingly incomparable at first thought, both weddings turned into enormously expensive celebrity circuses that broke television records. Expectedly, the royal couple delivered the pomp and circumstance of a British affair, while their American counterparts delivered the drama and glitz that we’ve come to expect from the Kardashian clan. But which wedding was the most extravagant?
Most everyone discusses the benefits of marriage in terms of love and companionship, but seldom do they bring up the legal rights and benefits marriage provides a husband and wife. These benefits offer couples the security and peace of mind needed when life takes a turn for the worse. Employment assistance, military benefits, tax benefits, estate planning and medical benefits are all included with an American marriage.
This is where I have to be honest and confessions of a shopaholic and the girl in the green scarf spring to mind!
I must admit even writing this I am at the end of a massive payment plan for credit cards and loans I took out to start my business. When I began I was a bit naive, I had no money and a family to raise and of course starting a business involves a lot of investment, which I splashed out on lots of advertising at ridiculous prices and I didn’t know what to pay! I got talked into spending a lot of money of nothing!
The easiest way to save money on your wedding that I have ever heard about or seen is to get your alcohol from a third party source. Buying your alcohol from Binny’s will save you thousands of dollars. Binny’s will provide all your alcoholic beverages at half the price of a venue or a caterer. Not only do we have the best prices but we also allow you to select any items you want which will allow you to personalize your order!
I can’t say enough good things about automatic transfers. It’s a mind game I suppose, but if the money isn’t sitting there in my checking account, I consider it not available to be spent. The month I graduated with my masters degree, I started a budget spreadsheet and an INGDirect Orange Savings account. If I was going to have a big girl paycheck, I needed to make big girl plans for saving and money management. Also, this big girl wanted a new car.
Last week, Mommy ordered her shower invites since we were in a time crunch. If we had more time, we would have made our own using PowerPoint. To cut costs, we could print on card stock or take them to Kinko’s for some quick printing.
