CJ & Dr. Tim ~ 100 Days & Counting!

Hey all!

100 days and counting….

HERE WE GO!  100 days to go!  WOWZA!  We can’t believe it!  This week is filled with some fun stuff.  Tonight is tuxedo night – time to pick out the clothes for the guys!  Even though it won’t take long, it is nice to get it off the list and then on to other things.  Claudia sent us a list of what was left to be done and we are RIGHT on track…. it made us feel like we have accomplished something!  (Always good!)

CJ & Dr. Tim ~ Cupcakes & Our God Loves Everyone

Hey all!

114 days and counting….

The cupcake tasting is over and THEY ARE GOOD!!!  Special thanks to Bleeding Heart Bakery for making our experience wonderful!  The new store on Belmont isn’t even open yet but they had a little “mini-cafe” set up for us with our cupcakes and cake balls waiting for us to taste.  Each one was just as good as the other – the flavors are so full and present that you know exactly what you are eating the minute you bite into it!  We know our guests will love them and will be eyeing them all night to make sure there are leftovers to take home!

TIP TUESDAY: No Drama Wedding

My team at AS YOU WISH – An Event Planning Company produced a lovely wedding a couple of weeks ago ~ stunning bride in a perfect dress for her, handsome and easy going groom, delightful parents, two sets of adoring grandparents, spirited children, one of the greatest best man toasts I have ever had the pleasure of being in attendance for and a heartfelt and teary eyed MOH toast.  But what moved me most?  No drama, just love.

Royal Wedding: Editor’s Perspective

As Editor-in-Chief of theBrideScoop, I get to hand out assignments, create fun days of collaborative writing for our writers and read everything that is submitted!  So when we get to share a whole day of one topic with our readers, I think you see us at our best.  I always have an opinion and sometimes I disagree with an article but I weigh that with what I think needs to be said about weddings and brides and whatnot.  But here are MY opinions – loves and dislikes - about the Royal Wedding… one year and one day later!

IN THEORY: Wedding Is NOT The Finish Line!

For MARRIED MONDAY, we shared Lydia Netzer‘s article:  15 Ways to Stay Married for 15 Years!  While we do not agree will every single point, number ten really struck as the TRUTH (yes, with a capital “T” and all caps after that!!!).  What is it?  Stop thinking temporarily about marriage.  Most brides think that getting married is the finish line… no, ladies!  It is just the beginning of the awesome journey of life together forever.

TIP TUESDAY: Adult Only Wedding!

I recently had a bride email me the following:  “So we are going to have some kids at our wedding after all.  I made it clear to people that it was going to be an adults only wedding, but people decided to invite their kids anyway.  It’s been a bit of eye-opening experience, especially because one person confronted me head-on about the babies thing (‘We can’t bring our kids?  What is up that?  What am I supposed to do?’).  I was so shocked that I basically caved right then and there.”

IN THEORY: Crazy Dietary Restrictions!

SQN Events shared a wonderful TIP TUESDAY about your tasting, guests’ meal selection and confirming final guest count and meals to your caterer or venue.  So, if your guests have a choice of beef or fish (with a vegetarian option and kids’ meal thrown in for good measure and do not for the vendor meals!), the chef is already making five different types of meals.  What happens when you get a guest with a list like this?

CJ & Dr. Tim ~ NOLA & Cupcakes!!!

Hey all!

128 days and counting….

Sorry for the LONG break in not keeping everyone updated on our lives!  We have been doing a bit of traveling and writing on a road trip is not as easy as we thought!  We took some time off to get away and meet up with our friends in New Orleans – needless to say, it was a BLAST!  We spent the days walking around the city and seeing the old buildings and cemeteries (which are both amazing and totally creepy at the same time) and we spent our nights… well, we spent our nights drinking.  Let’s face it, no matter the reason you say you are going to New Orleans, Bourbon Street is somewhere in the cards… and since our hotel was on the corner of Bourbon Street… there was no doubt that we would be partaking in a little libation!

TIP TUESDAY: Embrace Tradition of Yichud

There is a Jewish tradition that I really like and think that all newly married couples should incorporate into their wedding day.  It is called a Yichud.  At the end of the ceremony, the groom breaks the glass, everyone says “mazel tov” and the happy couple followed by their parents, bridal party, the rabbi and the guests recess out of the room.  Everyone else goes for cocktails and the bride and groom go into a room by themselves where they will spend ten or so minutes reflecting on their new life together as a couple.

TIP TUESDAY: Does your pet like your partner?

Do you own a dog?  Does he growl at the new man in your life?  Or does your puppy cuddle up to him?  It sounds quirky, right?  But a pets’ intuition is a good meter on how they feel about your new mate!
