IN THEORY: Crazy Dietary Restrictions!

SQN Events shared a wonderful TIP TUESDAY about your tasting, guests’ meal selection and confirming final guest count and meals to your caterer or venue.  So, if your guests have a choice of beef or fish (with a vegetarian option and kids’ meal thrown in for good measure and do not for the vendor meals!), the chef is already making five different types of meals.  What happens when you get a guest with a list like this?

CJ & Dr. Tim ~ NOLA & Cupcakes!!!

Hey all!

128 days and counting….

Sorry for the LONG break in not keeping everyone updated on our lives!  We have been doing a bit of traveling and writing on a road trip is not as easy as we thought!  We took some time off to get away and meet up with our friends in New Orleans – needless to say, it was a BLAST!  We spent the days walking around the city and seeing the old buildings and cemeteries (which are both amazing and totally creepy at the same time) and we spent our nights… well, we spent our nights drinking.  Let’s face it, no matter the reason you say you are going to New Orleans, Bourbon Street is somewhere in the cards… and since our hotel was on the corner of Bourbon Street… there was no doubt that we would be partaking in a little libation!

Lighting is Important

Lighting is an important piece of any event.  Not only can it create a glowing, warm space, it can really enhance the theme of your wedding.  For Brides, Bubbles and Bliss, held at the Bridgeport Arts Center, Automated Lighting Design transformed a raw space into a radiant runway show by utilizing pink up lighting and patterned lights.

Jolie & Pitt to Marry in France

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been privately planning their wedding for more than six months.  They have spent millions refurbishing Château Miraval, their 35-room retreat near the village of Correns in the heart of the Aix-en-Provence wine region.  It is said that the couple will tie the knot in a chapel at Mirval.

Budget Bear: Make Your Own Shower Invites!

Last week, Mommy ordered her shower invites since we were in a time crunch.  If we had more time, we would have made our own using PowerPoint.  To cut costs, we could print on card stock or take them to Kinko’s for some quick printing.

TIP TUESDAY: Embrace Tradition of Yichud

There is a Jewish tradition that I really like and think that all newly married couples should incorporate into their wedding day.  It is called a Yichud.  At the end of the ceremony, the groom breaks the glass, everyone says “mazel tov” and the happy couple followed by their parents, bridal party, the rabbi and the guests recess out of the room.  Everyone else goes for cocktails and the bride and groom go into a room by themselves where they will spend ten or so minutes reflecting on their new life together as a couple.

TIP TUESDAY: Does your pet like your partner?

Do you own a dog?  Does he growl at the new man in your life?  Or does your puppy cuddle up to him?  It sounds quirky, right?  But a pets’ intuition is a good meter on how they feel about your new mate!

MONEY MONDAY: Beware of Cheap Wedding Vendors

Thanks to our friend Officiant Larry James at Celebrate Intimate Weddings for his article Beware of “Cheap” Wedding Vendors!   We could not agree more!

It’s difficult for a wedding vendor to imitate a true wedding professional.  But there are those who try and often deceive their clients into going the cheap route.  If it sounds to good to be true… it probably is.  If it sounds like a duck, well… (you know the rest).  One bad vendor can ruin a celebration and there is no time for buyer’s remorse on your wedding day.
