TIP TUESDAY: You’re Sexy & You Know It

Sunday night kicked off Awards Season with the Golden Globes and we all had a glimpse of what the latest trends in fashion are (according to Hollywood stylists, anyway).  Hottest colors on the red carpet included soft shades of nude, fire-engine red and peacock blue (our favorite!).  We also saw gorgeous jeweled headbands (now this is a trend that will surely make its way into the world of bridal fashion), soft and wavy hairstyles that frame the face (instead of the slicked back ponytail that always looks a bit harsh), and most impressively, dresses that were modest but still incredibly sexy.

TIP TUESDAY: ‘Tis Engagement Season

‘Tis the season of new engagements and new brides (and grooms) freaking out about what they need to do!

I need to set my date!  I need to book the venue!  I need to decide who to ask to stand up in my bridal party!  Should I ask my parents about the budget?  Or just go for what I want?  Do I need to shop for a dress now?  Should I start the Hollywood Starve Yourself Thin diet?

Notes from Beth Bernstein

Okay… as Editor of theBrideScoop, I read all kinds of things in print and online.  Beth Bernstein from SQN Events – who shares the most awesome tips on TIP TUESSDAY – wrote this on her facebook page and I just had to share (with her permission, of course!).  Enjoy!!!

Oh. My. God.

Stumbled upon my “wedding binder” from 13 years ago and cannot get over the number of letters and emails I sent to my bridal party with “requests”.  Here are some gems from 1998-99:

“Speaking of shoes, in order for all of you to have a consistent look, you will need to purchase dyables.  Please choose any closed-toe style you are comfortable with.  I will handle having the shoes dyed (so they will all be dyed in the same lot for color consistency), so I will need you to get your shoes to me by the end of December.”

SQN Events: Jewish Mom Thankful for Christmas

On December 25, seven years ago, I received the best Christmas gift a nice Jewish girl from NJ could ask for:  my son, Jason.

Having a birthday in December is tough.  Even though we’re Jewish, Jason’s birthday often overlaps with Chanukah and our house began to look like a mini Toys R Us after his first few celebrations.

TIP TUESDAY: I have nothing to wear!!!

December may be the most stressful month of all.  Not because of the shopping that needs to get done or the cards that need to be stuffed, addressed, stamped and mailed but because of the numerous social engagements on the calendar.  Rarely are you given any direction as to the dress code and you step into your closet, take one look, and scream.  Your room looks like a tornado hit it – piles of clothes strewn everywhere, shoes and boots thrown around that leave the floor looking like a war zone, necklaces tangled in a knot that no Boy Scout can undo.

Holiday Tradition: Thanksgiving Can Often Be The First

Thanksgiving can often be the first “test” of a relationship.  My husband and I started dating in September 1995 and by early November it was clear that he was my “boyfriend”.  But we had not discussed the holidays.  At all.

Time for installation #16 of Foodie Registry’s “LunchDate” blog feature, where they ask a distinguished panel of wedding experts from across the country the same wedding related question and serve up the answers for our readers in one delicious post.

As you might guess from a wedding registry that helps couples receive food as wedding gifts, we love to eat.  Like, really love to eat.  Especially around the holidays.  And who doesn’t, right?  The span of Thanksgiving to New Years typically involves some of the best, heartiest meals you’ll have all year, enjoyed with family and friends and rosy cheeks.
