TIP TUESDAY: Adult Only Wedding!

I recently had a bride email me the following:  “So we are going to have some kids at our wedding after all.  I made it clear to people that it was going to be an adults only wedding, but people decided to invite their kids anyway.  It’s been a bit of eye-opening experience, especially because one person confronted me head-on about the babies thing (‘We can’t bring our kids?  What is up that?  What am I supposed to do?’).  I was so shocked that I basically caved right then and there.”

Budget Bear: Make Your Own Shower Invites!

Last week, Mommy ordered her shower invites since we were in a time crunch.  If we had more time, we would have made our own using PowerPoint.  To cut costs, we could print on card stock or take them to Kinko’s for some quick printing.

The wedding shower is finally finalized and Mommy is buying invitations.  Since we are in a bit of a time crunch (the majority of guests are from out of town), Mommy decided to find them online instead of make them herself.

Your fiance came up with the cutest idea!!!  Instead of table numbers, he wants to lay out the dining room in a similar way of New York City to seat your guests.  You think it is fabulous!  Your wedding planner disagrees… and here is why.

TIP TUESDAY: Computer Printed vs Calligraphy

Your mom really wants you to go very classic with your wedding invitations use calligraphy to address the envelopes.  You would rather spend that money on the gifts for your bridesmaids.  There is a difference in the price ~ computer printed envelopes cost approximately $1.00 and a good calligrapher is appoximately $3.00.

TIP TUESDAY: Don’t Cheap Out on Escort or Place Cards!

Everything for your wedding is first class!  Five star hotel for the reception, magnificant historical church for the ceremony, chef-inspired dinner, Veuve Clicquot for the toast, first rate twelve piece orchestra and a photographer that would rival Annie Leibovitz any day!  And then the escort and place cards… thrown together at the last minute and hideous!  Not at your wedding?  Never!  Riiiiight…..

TIP TUESDAY: Kids or No Kids?

So it seems that some people are so excited to have the children in their extended family at their wedding and have a ton of flower girls and ring bearers, even finding new jobs for children, like holding up signs during the ceremony saying “Please turn off your cell phones”.

This is certainly a good attitude and makes for great photos and some memorable moments during the ceremony and great dancing photos at the reception.
