TRAVEL THURSDAY: Nantucket

Two more months.  Then – destination – summer!  And that means one thing:  Nantucket.  Have you ever stepped into a painting – where everything is so gorgeous – so beautiful – so picture perfect – that you can’t believe it is real?  That is my Nantucket.

Travel Fun: Beer Garden at Munich Airport

The first thing many people think when their flight is delayed by three hours:  damn.

The second thing:  beer.  Lufthansa’s put a full-on beer garden (long tables, more than 300 seats) in their business-class lounge.  Drafts, pretzels, views of the Alps — it’s like Oktoberfest every day in Terminal 2!

TRAVEL THURSDAY: One If By Land, Two If By Sea

My affinity for all things delectable brought me to San Francisco on a whirlwind dining tour.  Lady with infamous appetite, I should have signaled my imminent arrival.  Instead, I snuck into Frisco to romp around incognito.  I had an agenda.  I wanted to taste as much of what the City by the Bay had to offer as possible and I wanted to do it on my own terms.  That meant far away from tourists of Fisherman’s Wharf.

TraveLin: The Oscars ~ Red Carpet, Green Glow

Ah yes, I love to see Los Angeles at its best for Oscar week!  With some of my LA independent film connections, I was able to enjoy some of the pre-Oscar soirees, set up for the show and red carpet.  I prefer to stay seaside near Santa Monica.  The LA Oscar party scene is a marathon of getting ready and power mingling.  I went to 1-3 events each day of Oscar week.  I scored a few of the Oscars’ elite events.  I’m a great film aficionado!

TraveLin: Rainforest to Red Carpet

I don’t want my daughters growing up entitled and spoiled.
And I agree with my father – you give your children enough money
to do something but not enough to do nothing.

~ Matt King (George Clooney) in “The Descendants”

Last year, at this time, I was moving out of Waipio’s rainforest on Hawaii’s Big Island and into a castle.  I enjoyed the five month respite from media and only saw a couple movies.  I was especially intrigued by a Hawaiian story by Kaui Hart Hemmings that became “The Descedants” film.
