Have you read Fifty Shades of Grey? No?! You may be the only woman out there that hasn’t!!! Not joking. Food Editor Gourmet Rambler read it a couple of weeks ago and Editor is in the process of reading it (for research purposes, ya know?). Do you know why it is so popular? Are women so sex deprived that a titillating novel by a British author has our motor running on high? Nope. Keep reading to find out why!
We figured out why Fifty Shades of Grey is a best seller. It is part Cinderella, part Pretty Woman, part 9 1/2 weeks. We all want to be those three women, whether we admit it or not.
All the kinky f*ckery aside, it is just a fairy tale. And who doesn’t secretly hope for Prince Charming (or King of Queens)? Show us the heterosexual woman that says she isn’t and we will show you a liar.
Is it well written? No. But when did that ever stop people from reading things?
We all hope that our secret crushes will turn around and love us back and that those broken men we know will change because of us.
Fifty Shades of Grey appeals to the hopeless romantic nature of women while providing a canvas for fantasy.

I read a sample I downloaded to see what the fuss was about and I had to force myself to finish that (and it was only maybe 28 pages?). For me, whatever it is I read must be well-written, otherwise I’m just distracted with everything that’s wrong with it.
Oh, and though I do lie about some things, honestly, I’m not looking for a PC.
Agreed. Not well written. Brutal to read at times because it is poorly written. I struggled with it.
Not looking, maybe. Hoping? Imagining? Maybe not PC? I myself am not looking for PC. I much prefer The King of Queens. But is it any different? I guess I am still hoping, against the odds.
Thanks so much for your comment!
