I am obsessed, literally, obsessed with paper.
We have paper from Italy, Thailand, India and other far reaches of the world. But my favorite papers is from right here in the Midwest: Wisconsin – where all the great paper companies live and breathe. They are not only great paper makers, they are great people and love the environment. It’s not just one company – it’s a few – but they all try to run their businesses in earth friendly ways that we respect and applaude.
We have struggled with the environment and making sure we aren’t flattening a rainforest with our invitations and, in that struggle, find paper that is either a high percentage post consumer waste or isn’t bleached or harmful to nature. We have been asked throughout the years about the plantable papers and, as much as I think they are a good concept, a high percentage of guests will not plant them. In the end, this environmental solution doesn’t really help and, in reality, that paper doesn’t really fit most of our clients needs and wants.
Most couples want to save a tree but still want a really impressive invitation that fits their high end formal occasion and plantable just doesn’t cut it. So, in this struggle, we finally realized that we can do what we can in regards to paper and then donate money to the tree planting endeavors of The National Arbor Association, which I hold near and dear.
