We have been sharing the details of our wedding crashing this week! On Monday, it was all about the entertainment. On Tuesday, we talked about the food. On Wednesday, it was about the venue. And today, we share how we got to be a wedding crasher!
Daniel, a friend of ours was in town, and called us mid-afternoon to say “hi” and then offhandedly asked if we wanted to join him at the wedding that evening. So offhanded in fact that I laughed and thought he was joking. And he repeated it and I still said, “Thanks but no thanks.” Then I mentioned it to my husband and he said, “Why not?” So I called Daniel back and asked if he was serious. He was. I said yes… and then I got really nervous!
Hubby came home and we threw on some fancy party clothes and headed over to Quidnessett Country Club to be guests at a wedding where we were not invited! It was a beautiful evening and the outdoor ceremony was lovely. Bride looked pretty in her one-shoulder gown and the groom was beaming from ear to ear!
Then Daniel introduced us to the parents of the bride – his brother! That’s right!!! Not only were we crashing a wedding, we sat at the parents of the bride’s table – right up front, right by the bride and groom! Daniel’s mother and brother (grandmother and uncle of the bride) had RSVP’d yes but then for medical reasons were unable to attend. So we actually served a purpose by taking up seats and filling up the table.
Thankfully, everyone was incredibly gracious and had a good chuckle about having wedding crashers at the party!
