One short year ago… this was me. On a plane to London, my nine year old daughter by my side, off to celebrate the Royal Wedding, girly girl weekend style. And this was our view – for three, thrilling, tea party filled days – pretty petit fours – almost too pretty to nibble.
I dragged my darling daughter, not to one, not to two, not to three, but in all honesty – to EIGHT Royal Wedding Tea Party Celebrations!
From The Langham, to The Dorchester, to Brown’s, to Fortnum & Mason… we skipped through lovely London, bouncing on pure sugar and happiness, and sipping champagne (me) and sparkling cider (her) for the most glorious long weekend of my entire life.
I didn’t realize this when my doting husband gave me this surprise gift – but London is the perfect weekend away. Give yourself a few days on each end if possible, and sleep as much as you can on the plane to ward off jet lag.
The language isn’t a barrier, making the adjustment overseas and into British culture quick and easy. The city, the history, the architecture, the parks, the restaurants – OH, the restaurants… The shopping – OH, the shopping…
It is simply a skip across the pond – so go ahead – jump aboard!
